TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Oregon’s Beth Boskovich drove in four runs on three hits and scored three times to lead the Ducks to a convincing 12-0 win over South Florida Friday in Game Seven of the 2004 NCAA Division I Softball Tallahassee Regional at the Seminole Softball Complex. Oregon improved to 40-19 and advances in the winners’ bracket and will play Saturday at Noon. USF will face Florida tonight in an elimination game at 8 p.m.


Ani Nyhus picked up her second win in as many days going three innings and allowing one base hit while striking out two batters. She improved to 23-12. Four pitchers saw action for the Bulls with starter Leigh Ann Ellis (41-7) recording the loss. Ellis pitched the first inning and faced two batters in the second and was responsible for five earned runs. She also struck out two and walked four. Combined, USF pitching walked 10 batters and allowed 10 hits.


Three of the first four Oregon batters reached base on a hit by pitch, a walk and an intentional walk. Boskovich, the leadoff hitter, scored the first run when left fielder Dani Baird drew a walk. Right fielder Kayleen Hudson drove in two more runs with a single to left field. Third baseman Ashley Richards’ double in the second inning drove in two more runs and Boskovich’s single to left in the third scored another run. Already leading 6-0, Oregon doubled its score with a six-run fourth. With the bases loaded, two out and one run already across in the plate, Boskovich doubled to right center allowing three more Ducks to score. Pinch-hitter Heather Munson’s single drove in the final two runs.


South Florida managed a base hit in both the third and fifth inning but could not get anything else going offensively.
