TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – UPDATE: On the third and final day of the 2009 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft, Florida State saw four more players from the 2009-2010 incoming class selected in rounds 31-50 on Thursday, June 11. In all, a total of 10 players either currently enrolled at FSU or who have previously committed to attending FSU in the fall were chosen in this year’s draft.
All four of Thursday’s draftees, three committed to play baseball and one committed to play football, are part of the 2009-2010 class. Those draftees included right handed pitcher Robert Benincasa (Seffner, FL/Armwood HS) selected by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 33rd round (1000th overall pick); infielder Jacobbi McDaniel (Greenville, FL/Madison HS), a member of the 2009 Seminole Football signing class, selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 33rd round (1006th overall pick); left handed pitcher Brett Lee (Pensacola, FL/West Florida HS) selected by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 40th round (1195th overall pick); infielder Justin Gonzalez (Miami, FL/Columbus HS) selected by the Houston Astros in the 46th round (1391st overall pick).

Day two of the 2009 Major League Baseball First Year Player Draft was a busy one for Florida State University as a total of six players, three current Seminoles and three members of the 2009-2010 incoming class were selected during the first 30 rounds of the draft on Wednesday, June 10.
Redshirt sophomore outfielder D’Vontrey Richardson was the first of the current Seminoles to be drafted as the Leesburg, Ga., native was selected with 166th overall pick in the fifth round by the Milwaukee Brewers.
The St. Louis Cardinals selected junior second baseman Jason Stidham (Palm Bay, Fla.) with the 249th overall pick in the eighth round, while right handed pitcher Jimmy Marshall (Tallahassee, Fla.) went in the 23rd round, 697th overall pick, to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Florida State also had three of its signees from the 2009-2010 class selected on Wednesday. Those draftees included right handed pitcher Keyvius Sampson (Ocala, FL/Ocala Forest HS) selected by the San Diego Padres in the fourth round (114th overall pick); infielder Ryan Scooter Gennett (Sarasota, FL/Sarasota HS) selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 16th round (496th overall pick); third baseman David Jayce Boyd (Cantonment, FL/Tate HS) selected by the Texas Rangers in the 19th round (574th overall pick).
