2010 Season Outlook

THE PITCHERS

·      Senior Terese Gober and junior Sarah Hamilton return to lead a potent one-two punch in the circle for the Seminoles in 2010.

·      Hamilton is softball star after bursting on to the national scene as a sophomore when she earned Third-Team Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-American, Louisville Slugger/NFCA All-Southeast Region Team, First-Team All-ACC and ACC Pitcher of the Year honors.

·      Gober enters her final season at FSU after earning a team-best 24 wins last season and Second-Team All-ACC selection.

·      Lauren Varsalona appeared in 18 games as a transfer a season ago and provides excellent depth going forward.

·      The Seminoles will now welcome true freshmen pitchers Dale Townsend and Morgan Bullock into the fold.

 

THE CATCHERS

·         Robin Ahrberg returns to action after shoulder surgery forced her to take a redshirt last season.

·         Allison Collins played in 33 games last year and provides valuable veteran leadership.

·         The Seminoles will welcome a plethora of young talent at the catcher spot in 2010, including true freshman Briar Stanley and Tennessee transfer Jen Lapicki.

 

THE INFIELDERS

·         The FSU infield features several players with a lot of game experience from the 2009 campaign.

·         Senior Ashley Stager is back after playing in and starting all 60 games last year.

·         Junior Kristie McConn is another valuable piece to the Seminole puzzle as she enters her junior year after playing and starting 59 games a season ago.

·         Senior Courtney Rosen is set to provide excellent leadership as an upperclassman.

·         Junior Mallory Borden and Brittany Joseph started a combined 102 contests in 2009 and bring playmaking ability.

·         FSU has the luxury this year of welcoming some talented athletes into the mix as Tory Haddad transferred from Ohio State and true freshman Tiffani Brown provides a new spark.

 

THE OUTFIELDERS

·         Team captain Carly Wynn is back for her final year after a 34-RBI, six-homerun junior season.

·         Fellow senior Monica Montez is yet another veteran that knows what it takes to win and will provide that example all season long in 2010.

·         Sophomore Shayla Jackson is lightning quick on the base paths and figures to be a problem for opponents all year.

·         Sophomore Amber Bryant will be forced to take a redshirt as she rehabilitates an injured knee.

·         True freshmen Morgan Bullock and Lauren Mullins are exciting utility players that could line up at a variety of positions for head coach Lonni Alameda.
