2013 Noles Add To NFL Total On Draft Weekend

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Consider it one more curtain call for Florida State’s 2013 national championship team. After the NFL draft had concluded Saturday evening and free-agent contracts had been signed that night, another wave of championship-winning Seminoles found homes in professional football. Cornerback Jalen Ramsey (fifth overall to Jacksonville) and kicker Roberto Aguayo (59th to Tampa Bay) became the 19th and 20th members of FSU’s 2013 team to be drafted.

Factor in free agent contracts – Nile Lawrence-Stample, Reggie Northrup, Lamarcus Brutus and Giorgio Newberry all signed on Saturday night – and the list of 2013 Seminoles in the NFL grows even bigger.

All told, 34 Seminoles from 2013 – 38 percent of the 85-man roster – have either been drafted or signed to a free agent deal. That includes the starting quarterback, four running backs, four receivers, five offensive linemen, two tight ends tight end, six defensive linemen, four linebackers, six defensive backs and one specialist.

And that number will likely grow, as this year’s Seminoles feature 11 seniors or fifth-year seniors who were on the team in 2013 and hope to hear their names called at next year’s draft.
