Florida State junior tailback Greg Jones answered some questions Thursday afternoon following the Seminoles’ first practice in full pads. The Beaufort, S.C., native, who scored a touchdown during goal line drills during Thursday’s practice, headlines a group of impressive Florida State running backs.


In one word, describe yourself on the field.


“A thrasher.”


And off the field?


“Quiet.”


What’s your favorite sports movie and why?


“Jerry MaGuire,” because when I was young, it let me see what sports agents are really about.”


So did you believe the movie portrayed what agents are really like?


“I wanted to. Jerry MaGuire is the kind of guy I would want as an agent.”


If you could be anyone else for a day, who would it be and why?


“Derek Jeter – 250 something mil (laughing) and all the women.”


What drives you?


“Failure.”


Do you ever fail?


“I don’t want to.”


How do you deal with it if you do?


“I just work harder at what I failed at.”


Aside from professional athletes, what profession do you admire most?


“Whew, that’s a tough one. I’d have to say that it’s the blue collar workers who get up everyday and do hard work.”


What’s the hardest thing about two-a-days?


“Getting up early in the morning and doing the same old thing, day in and day out.”


Don’t you have to get up early for class?


“Not that early.”


How early do you have to get up now?


“About six o’clock.”


What’s your favorite food during two-a-days?


“Ribs. Barbeque. Usually, I try to eat it once a week.”
