Nov. 4, 2006

Tallahassee, Fla. – Senior Ytai Abougzir (Boca Raton, Fla.) and freshman Jean Yves Aubone (Miami, Fla.) advanced into the semifinals of the singles A Division at the Seminoles Invitational. Abougzir, ranked 27th by the ITA, will face off against No. 59 Bruno Agostinelli from Kentucky while Aubone will take on No. 70 Daneil Vallverdu from Miami. Both matches will take place at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center Sunday at 8:30 a.m. The championships match will take place Sunday at 1:00 p.m.

“One thing that has been real good is that we have won a lot of matches,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “I think that is something that we wanted to accomplish. Basically everyone has won more matches than they lost. In particular with Jean Yves (Aubone) and Ytai (Abougzir) being in the semis they have come two different ways. Ytai has won every match difficult and Jean Yves has won solid every match. They have come though different ways but I’m pleased Ytai has come from behind and I think that is a real good sign for him. Jean Yves has been very focused and played very well and hopefully we will have one or both of those guys in the finals tomorrow.”

Abougzir won his quarterfinals match defeating Oliver Sajous from Florida Atlantic 6-7, 7-5, 7-5 while Aubone also won his as he defeated Nejc Podkrajsek from Georgia State 6-3, 6-1.
