Abougzir and Aubone Fall in Semifinals of the Seminole Invitational

Tallahassee, Fla. – Senior Ytai Abougzir (Boca Raton, Fla.) and freshman Jean Yves Aubone (Miami, Fla.) were both defeated at the Seminole Invitational after reaching the semifinals. Abougzir, ranked 27th by the ITA, was defeated by No. 59 Bruno Agostinelli from Kentucky 7-5, 5-7, 7-5. Aubone dropped his match to No. 70 Daneil Vallverdu from Miami 6-2, 6-3.

Also competing for Florida State on the day was sophomore Ryan Boyajian (Weston, Fla.) and freshman Michael O’Shea (Boca Raton, Fla.) as both won their singles C consolation matches. Boyajian defeated Adrian Tollastam from UAB 7-5, 6-7, (12-10) while O’Shea defeated Diego Martinez from Troy 6-1, 6-2.

Abougzir won his quarterfinals match defeating Oliver Sajous from Florida Atlantic 6-7, 7-5, 7-5 while Aubone also won his as he defeated Nejc Podkrajsek from Georgia State 6-3, 6-1.

The Florida State men’s tennis team will open up their spring season on January 20, 2007 when they take on Florida A&M and Louisiana-Lafayette at the Scott Speicher Tennis Center.
