Academy Sports+Outdoors Noles In The NFL: Week 7

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A trio of defensive stars from Florida State’s 2013 national championship squad helped lead their pro teams to big victories during Week 7 of the NFL slate. Christian Jones and Telvin Smith both led the Bears and Jaguars in tackles, while Lamarcus Joyner grabbed an interception for the Rams. Those three teams combined to win their games by a score of 77-3.

Elsewhere, quarterback Jameis Winston shook off a shoulder injury to throw for seasons-highs in yardage (384) and touchdowns (3) in a losing effort at Buffalo.

Oakland 31, Kansas City 30
Raiders: OL Rodney Hudson started at center. DE Mario Edwards Jr. started and made one tackle. QB EJ Manuel was active but did not play.  K Sebastian Janikowski (back) is on injured reserve.

Chiefs: OL Cam Erving started at right guard. LB Terrance Smith made one tackle on special teams.

Buffalo 30, Tampa Bay 27
Bills: TE Nick O’Leary started and caught two passes for 58 yards.
Buccaneers: QB Jameis Winston completed 32 of 44 passes for 384 yards, three touchdowns and one interception. CB Javien Elliott played but did not record any statistics. LS Garrison Sanborn handled long-snapping duties. WR Jesus Wilson is on the practice squad.

Chicago 17, Carolina 3
Bears: LB Christian Jones started and made a team-high 11 tackles (one for loss) NT Eddie Goldman started and made six tackles (0.5 for loss), registered 0.5 sacks and defended one pass.
Panthers: WR Kelvin Benjamin started and caught three passes for 65 yards. K Graham Gano was 1 for 1 on field goals (36 yards).

Browns: OL Roderick Johnson (knee) is on injured reserve.

Saints: CB P.J. Williams played but did not record any statistics.

Jaguars: LB Telvin Smith started, made a team-high 10 tackles (two for loss) and had a QB hurry. CB Jalen Ramsey started, made four tackles and defended two passes. WR Rashad Greene (Achilles) is on injured reserve.

Los Angeles Rams 33, Arizona 0
Rams: In his return from a hamstring injury, DB Lamarcus Joyner started, made three tackles and grabbed an interception that the returned 29 yards.

Miami 31, New York Jets 28
Dolphins: LB Lawrence Timmons started and made three tackles (one for loss).
Jets: DB Terrence Brooks had a QB hurry.

Minnesota 24, Baltimore 16
Vikings: CB Xavier Rhodes started and made one tackle. RB Dalvin Cook (knee) is on injured reserve.

Dallas 40, San Francisco 10
Cowboys: CB Marquez White is on the practice squad.
49ers: LB Dekoda Watson had one tackle. DL Cornellius Carradine (ankle) is on injured reserve.

Pittsburgh 29, Cincinnati 14
Steelers: LB Vince Williams started and made two tackles.
Bengals: WR Kermit Whitfield is on the practice squad.

Broncos: DE DeMarcus Walker made one tackle. OT Menelik Watson was inactive.

Giants: WR Travis Rudolph caught three passes for 32 yards. OL Bobby Hart played as a reserve at right tackle.

Falcons: RB Devonta Freeman started and carried 12 times for 72 yards, and added three catches for 18 yards.
