Academy’s Noles In The NFL: Week 8

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – A pair of former Seminoles helped the Carolina Panthers get back on the winning track and Devonta Freeman paced the Atlanta Falcons to a big win during Week 8 of the NFL season. And tonight’s Monday matchup pits two former FSU defenders against each other in an NFC North showdown. Here’s a lap around the league.

Tennessee 36, Jacksonville 22
Titans: OG Josue Matias is on injured reserve
Jaguars: LB Telvin Smith started and had a game-high 15 tackles. CB Jalen Ramsey started and made eight tackles. WR Rashad Greene was inactive.

Washington 27, Cincinnati 27
Redskins: RB Chris Thompson carried seven times for 14 yards and caught five passes for 27 yards. He added 53 yards on three kick returns. K Dustin Hopkins was 2 for 4 on field goals (makes from 20 and 40 yards, misses from 34 and 55 yards).

New England 41, Buffalo 25
Patriots: OG Tre’ Jackson is on injured reserve
Bills: CB Ronald Darby started, made three tackles (one for loss) and defended a pass. TE Nick O’Leary caught one pass for 10 yards and also hauled in a two-point conversion, QB EJ Manuel was 1 for 2 passing for 35 yards, and also completed the two-point attempt to O’Leary. LS Garrison Sanborn handled long-snapping duties. RB James Wilder Jr. is on injured reserve.

Carolina 30, Arizona 20
Panthers: WR Kelvin Benjamin started and caught two passes for 73 yards, including a long of 50 yards. K Graham Gano was 3 for 3 on field goals (makes of 52, 43 and 21 yards) and 3 for 3 on extra points.

New York Jets 31, Cleveland 28
Browns: C Cameron Erving started up front and recorded a tackle after a turnover. DT Nile Lawrence-Stample (shoulder) in on injured reserve.

Houston 20, Detroit 13
Lions: WR Anquan Boldin started and caught one pass for four yards.

Kansas City 30, Indianapolis 14
Chiefs: LB Terrance Smith is on the practice squad.
Colts: CB Patrick Robinson started, made four tackles and defended two passes.

New Orleans 25, Seattle 20
Saints: CB P.J. Williams (neck) is on injured reserve.

Oakland 34, Tampa Bay 20 (OT)
Raiders: C Rodney Hudson started up front. K Sebastian Janikowski was 1 for 3 on field goals (make of 31 yards, misses from 51 and 52 yards). OT Menelik Watson was inactive. DE Mario Edwards Jr. (hip) on injured reserve.
Buccaneers: QB Jameis Winston completed 16 of 32 passes for 180 yards and two touchdowns. He added 16 yards on the ground. RB Antone Smith carried four times for 16 yards and caught a nine-yard pass. K Roberto Aguayo was 1 for 1 on field goals (42) and 1 for 2 on extra points. DB Javien Elliott is on the practice squad.

Broncos: LB Dekoda Watson made three special-teams tackles.

Atlanta 33, Green Bay 32
Falcons: RB Devonta Freeman total 58 yards (35 rushing, 32 receiving) and scored two touchdowns.
Packers: DT Letroy Guion started and made two tackles.

Dallas 29, Philadelphia 23
Eagles: LB Nigel Bradham started and made 11 tackles (one for loss). S Terrence Brooks had one tackle and forced a fumble.

Monday Night Football: Minnesota at Chicago, 8:30 p.m.
Vikings: CB Xavier Rhodes has eight tackles, two interceptions and a forced fumble in four games this season.
Bears: DT Eddie Goldman has seven tackles and 0.5 sacks but has missed the last several games with an injures. He is doubtful to play tonight. LB Christian Jones has 10 tackles and a pass defended this season.

Bye weeks: Baltimore, Los Angeles, Miami, New York Giants, Pittsburgh, San Francisco
Ravens: DT Timmy Jernigan has started all seven games and has 22 tackles and four sacks.
Rams: CB Lamarcus Joyner has appeared in all seven games (four starts) and has 41 tackles and a forced fumble.
Giants: OT Bobby Hart has appeared in six games, with five starts.
Steelers: LB Lawrence Timmons has started all seven games and has 48 tackles, 0.5 sacks and one pass defended. LB Vince Williams has appeared in all seven games (four starts) and has made 40 tackles and two sacks.
49ers: DL Cornellius Carradine has appeared in all seven games and has made six tackles. QB Christian Ponder has yet to play this season.
