The Florida State men’s tennis team is competing at the ACC Championships this week. Take an inside look at the program with a look as the team travels to North Carolina and has their first practice with sophomore Andres Bucaro of Guatemala City, Guatemala.

Hello everyone, it’s Andres Bucaro reporting from Cary, North Carolina on day one of the ACC’s Men’s tennis tournament.

It was an early one today for the Seminoles, my good ole friend and teammate Owen “Willie” Long picked me up from my apartment accompanied by Vahid “Dad” Mirzadeh at 6:30am to make our 7:35am flight. We flew to Atlanta to connect for our flight to Raleigh, NC. We were really lucky and had about 45 minutes to eat breakfast in Atlanta’s airport. We decided to go to TGI Fridays. This was my first time eating breakfast there and I think it was for the entire team, too. We weren’t sure if we were going to have enough time to eat because we all know how long it takes to get food at Fridays.

After a quick breakfast, we made it on our 50 minute flight to North Carolina for the third time in 3 weeks. Once we got here, we checked in the hotel and got our rooms. We came upstairs and changed to go to our 2pm practice session. We got to the courts early and were able to look around and just hang out. We had a good practice, we all felt it was productive because we got used to the courts and the ACC atmosphere. We focused a lot on our doubles game because we feel like it will be very important to have a solid start against the `Terps tomorrow.

After practice was over we got to go to the hotel and shower to ready to go to Bonefish and enjoy a delicious dinner. We enjoyed the Bang Bang Shrimp appetizer like we always do when we go there. Dinner was great and we had a good time talking about girls, politics and the NBA Playoffs. We got back to the hotel and had our routine team meeting. We talked about how we are going to approach the Maryland match tomorrow at 9am and got plenty of fluids to hydrate for tomorrow’s battle. I’m about to go to bed now and watch some basketball, Lakers are winning tonight for sure! We will keep you Seminole fans informed throughout the week and our journey in the ACC tournament. Hasta luego amigos…
