Assistant Sports Information Director

Achim “Ace” Hunt is in his first year at Florida State University serving as an Assistant Director of Sports Information. With the Seminoles, Hunt works with the women’s basketball as well as track and field and cross country programs.

Hunt came to FSU from Indiana State University where he spent two years as the Associate Director of Athletic Media Relations following six years of working as an assistant director. Hunt coordinated the publicity efforts for the Sycamore football, women’s basketball and women’s golf programs. While at ISU, Hunt worked with the two-time Missouri Valley Conference Champion women’s basketball program, and served as media relations coordinator for the MVC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, Active Ankle Volleyball Tournament, as well as the 2003, 2005 & 2006 Women’s National Postseason Invitation Tournaments.

He coordinated the publicity efforts of Jamie Petrowski, Melanie Boeglin and Laura Rudolphi in their successful All-America campaigns. Petrowski garnered All-America honors from a pair of organizations while Boeglin earned a trifectia of national honors. In addition, Boeglin and Rudolphi earned ESPN The Magazine Academic All-America honors. All told, Hunt has coordinated the publicity campaigns for 16 different academic all-district honorees as well as two Academic All-Americans.

In addition to various accomplishments within the media relations realm, Hunt has served as the color commentator for football and baseball broadcasts and spent one season as play-by-play announcer for Indiana State women’s basketball.

In his role with the Sycamores, Hunt oversaw the day-to-day operations of the media relations office and has helped transition the athletic department to its new website, GoSycamores.com. Hunt wrote features and recaps for the website and maintained all statistics and archived information regarding Sycamore athletics. He served as a liaison between the athletic department and various local, regional and national media outlets.

A member of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) and the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA), Hunt came to ISU after a stint at Western Kentucky University where he served as an intern in the Hilltoppers’ Sports Information Office.

Hunt is a veteran of working various Missouri Valley Conference championships, and served as a media steward at the 2007 NCAA Midwest Regional Basketball Tournament held in St. Louis, Mo., as well as the 2008 NCAA First and Second Rounds in Omaha, Neb.

Prior to working at WKU, he was a student assistant in the University of South Carolina’s Sports Information Office covering the swimming and diving programs, and was sports editor of The Gamecock from ’95-’96.

A native of Woodruff, S.C., Hunt received his degree in Sports Administration from the University of South Carolina in 1999. He is the father of three children: Bryce O’Neal Hunt (6), Jackson Thomas Hunt (4) and Ella Scarlett Hunt (1).
