Seminole junior Matt Adcock shot an even par 72 and moved into a tie for 22nd place in the individual standings and the Florida State men’s golf team is in ninth place in the team standings after two rounds of the Landfall Tradition at the Jack Nicklaus Course at the Country Club of Landfall. Adcock is joined by teammates Brad Lusenhop and Rusty Mosley as Seminoles who are in the top 30 of the individual standings entering Sunday’s third and final round.
Chris Noel of Tulsa shot a seven-under par 65 and has a two-day total of 135. He is the individual leader after 36 holes of play. Minnesota, which led the team standings by two strokes after the first round, enters final round of play with a five stroke lead over Ohio State. Florida State begins play in the third round only four strokes out of sixth place and eight strokes out of the top five as the Seminoles look for their third top-10 team finish in four tournaments this fall.
Adcock (Apopka, Fla.) led Florida State in the second round with an even par 72 and has a two-day total of 147. It marked the fourth time this season he had finished with a single round score of par or better. Adcock has shot single-round scores of 72 in three of his last five rounds and leads the Seminoles with a stroke average of 73.11 in four tournaments this season.
Freshman Bradley Ruch (Louisville, Ken.) shot a one-over par 73 and is in a tie for 24th place in the individual standings. He is competing in his first collegiate tournament after joining the Seminoles as a walk-on this fall. Ruch improved his score by five strokes in the second round after a carding a 78 in his first collegiate round.
Juniors Rusty Mosley (Vidalia, Ga.) and Mark Sestilio (Punta Gorda, Fla.) also improved their scores in the second round of the tournament as compared to their first round scores. Mosley carded a 75 in the second round (after finishing with a 76 in round one) and Sestilio finished with a 74 in round two (following a first round 75). Senior Brad Lusenhop (Gloversville, N.Y.) is in a tie for 24th place in the individual standings with a two-day total of 148. He is Florida State’s second ranked golfer in the individual standings.
The tournament concludes Sunday with an 8:30 a.m. starting time. The Landfall Tradition is the final event of the fall the Seminoles.
