Junior Ganiyat Adeduntan, who has been a force for the 22-6 Seminoles this season, was recently named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III first team. She is joined by Virginia Tech’s Erin Gibson as the only ACC players on the five-member team.
A two-time All Academic Honor Roll member, Adeduntan, a Nursing major, has a 3.52 GPA. She was voted first team out of 31 nominations representing 16 college and universities in the district which includes the states of Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
On the court, Adeduntan has been equally as impressive. She ranks first on the team in rebounding at 7.7 rebounds per game, which ranks 4th in the ACC, and is third on the team in scoring at 11.7 points per game. She has scored in double figures 15 times, including a stretch of eight straight ACC games. She has also recorded double digit rebounds 10 times and has been among the team leaders in rebounding 16 times. With five 20+ points games this season, Adeduntan has led the team in scoring seven times.
In the last five games, Adeduntan is averaging 16.2 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. With Adeduntan’s help, FSU is in 4th place in the ACC after the team was picked to finish 8th.
