All-ACC Preseason Team

July 28, 2010

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Florida State quarterback Christian Ponder and offensive guard Rodney Hudson were the only two Seminoles selected to the All-ACC preseason team, which was selected by the league’s media at the July 25-26 ACC Football Kickoff and released Wednesday.

The two Seminole seniors were voted on to the 23-member squad following the tabulation of 52 media member ballots from the two-day event at the Grandover Resort.

North Carolina led all ACC schools with five players – all from the defensive side of the ball – selected to the 2010 preseason team. Boston College was second with four players selected, followed by Clemson and Miami with three each.

In all, 20 of 23 honorees earned first or second team All-ACC honors last fall. The three remaining players earned honorable mention honors last fall.

Ponder, the media pick for ACC Preseason Player of the Year, was an honorable mention selection in 2009 after his season was cut short by a shoulder injury suffered in the ninth game. He led the ACC last season in total offense with 321.8 yards per game; the sixth highest single-season total in league history. Hudson is bidding to become only the seventh player in ACC history – and just the first offensive linemen – to be selected to the All-ACC team for four consecutive seasons. Hudson was a second team All-ACC choice as a freshman in 2009 and earned first team honors in 2008 and 2009.
