March 25, 2007

ATHENS, Ga. –
Florida State sophomore All-America Caroline Westrup shot an even par 71 in the final round but was unable to repeat as tournament champion as she finished tied for third in the individual standings in leading the No. 25 ranked Seminoles to a 10th place team finish at the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia Golf Course. Westrup completed the event one stroke behind Maria Hernandez of Purdue and Leah Wigger of Virginia who finished tied for medalist honors with scores of 215 – one stroke ahead of Westrup’s 216 total for the 54-hole event.

Westrup, the nation’s No. 2 ranked individual player, made a strong run at individual medalist honors during the final round. Hernandez the played the final round at one under while Wigger was even par over the final 18 holes to hold off the charging Westrup.
