TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
Florida State University junior Allison Lind was named Atlantic Coast Conference Cross Country Performer of the Week as announced Tuesday morning by the league office. Lind, a native of Woodbury, Conn., competed in her first race as a Lady Seminole since transferring from South Dakota State University where she was an All-American in 2000.
The Lady Seminoles opened the 2001 season last Friday at the Appalachian State Invitational where Lind placed sixth overall, crossing the finish line at 18:26.0, and helped lead FSU to a second-place finish.
“Allison winning this award is a great honor for both the school and the program,” said head coach Bob Braman. “Coming off an All-American year at Division II South Dakota State, we can expect great things in the future from her. She did a great job considering this was her first meet at Florida State.”
The Seminoles will have a break in between meets before returning to action Sept. 22 to host their only home meet of the season at Miccasukee Greenway in Tallahassee, Fla. The Seminoles will participate in the Across the State Relay Sept. 7 where the men’s and women’s teams will run across the state of Florida in one day to raise money to be donated to local charities and the Tallahassee Parks and Recreation Service.
