TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State University women’s volleyball program will conduct an alumni match beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21, at Tully Gym.
The match is open to the public, and is preceded by the garnet-gold scrimmage at 1:30 p.m. Scheduled to compete for the gold are liberos Courtney Zuber and Katie Mosher, middle blockers Marija Milosavljevic and Ashley Neff, outside hitters Visnja Djurdjevic, Jekaterina Stepanova and Amanda Saxton as well as setter Patricia Figueiredo.
The garnet team includes liberos Jenna Romanelli and Taylor Wilson, middle blockers Lauren Young and Sareea Freeman, outsider hitters Rachael Morgan, Fatma Yildirim and Stephanie Neville and setter Duygu Duzceler.
Four graduated members of the 2009 team participating in the alumni match include all-time hitting percentage leader Brianna Barry, reigning All-ACC team members Nikki Baker and Jordana Price and three-time academic honor roll recipient Sarah Griffin.
The FSU volleyball program will enter the 2010 season as the 15th-rated club in the country, according to the American Volleyball Coaches Association preseason rankings. The Seminoles were also picked to win the Atlantic Coast Conference.
FSU begins the regular season on Friday, Aug. 27, at 7 p.m. against New Mexico as part of the FSU Invitational. The Seminoles round out the weekend with a noon match on Saturday versus FIU, followed by a 7 p.m. contest against USF on the same day.
