TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Former Florida State volleyball standout Amanda Santos (2003, 2004) has signed a contract to play professional volleyball in Holland. The native of Minas Gerais, Brazil, and sister of FSU senior Andreza Santos, plans to leave the United States on Dec. 26 to pursue her professional volleyball career.
“I am extremely excited,” said Santos, who spent the last year training in Tallahassee. “I love the sport of volleyball and I cannot wait to get back on the court. I really enjoyed spending time with the Florida State volleyball team this year as a spectator and the experience renewed my desire to continue playing.”
Santos is the only player in the history of Florida State volleyball to be named an American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-American as she was named to the team last season after leading Florida State to an 18-11 record. Santos was also selected to the 2004 All-ACC first team All-East Region.
“I will always be thankful for the time I spent at Florida State,” she said. “There are so many people here that helped me further my career, especially Coach Kress. It is my hope that I represent FSU well on the professional level.”
