Anderson to Join Men’s Basketball Team

December 18, 1998

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Damous Anderson has been admitted to Florida State University and will join the Seminoles basketball team for their game against Georgia Southern on Sunday.

“I am happy that Damous will be available and glad that he has the opportunity to play with us,” said FSU head coach Steve Robinson. “It is great that he will have the opportunity to be a part of our program. Damous has been through a lot and it says a lot about his character that he has stuck with things and returned to Florida State. He is way behind in the knowledge of what we are trying to do on the court but he is capable of helping us and we will try to do our best to get him caught up.”

Anderson, a 6-6 forward, originally signed with Florida State last spring after averaging 21.7 points and 11.7 rebounds per game at Metro Atlanta College. He was the Georgia Junior College Athletic Association Player of the Year last season and also earned Junior College All-America honors as well.

The Greenville, SC native is the cousin of former NBA player Willie Anderson and current Utah Jazz forward Shandon Anderson.
