Anthony, Gladden Earn Academic All-District Honors

Florida State junior Nikki Anthony and senior Alicia Gladden have been named ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III, which was selected in a vote by the members of College Sports Information Director’s of America (CoSIDA). FSU was the only school with two representatives among the honorees.

As a first team selection, Anthony, who hails from Pickens, S.C., will move on to the national ballot to be selected for Academic All-America. A senior academically, Anthony holds a 3.85 grade point average in physical education. The 6-3 center has played in all 23 games for the Seminoles who enter Friday’s game vs. Georgia Tech with a 17-6 record and in third place in the ACC at 6-2. Anthony is averaging 4.7 points and 5.5 rebounds per game. She has had six or more rebounds in 15 games this year and has led the team in rebounding six times. She is a three-time member of the Dean’s List at FSU and has earned a 4.0 semester GPA seven times. Also a three-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll, Anthony has earned the FSU Golden Torch Award the last two years for the highest GPA on the women’s basketball team.

With a 3.37 grade point average in sport management, Gladden garnered second team honors. A three-year starter for the Seminoles, Gladden leads the team in scoring this season at 14.3 points and is second on the squad in rebounding at 6.0. The Orange Park, Fla., native has led the team in scoring a team-high eight times and has had seven or more rebounds in 12 games. Second at FSU in career steals, Gladden, a two-time member of the ACC All-Defensive Team, has earned Dean’s List status five times, is a three-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll and was named to the ACC All-Academic Team for 2005-06.
