TULSA, Okla.-Florida State’s duo of sophomore Jean-Yves Aubone and freshman Clint Bowles bowed out of the 2008 NCAA Double’s Championships against Ohio State’s Drew Eberly and Justin Kronauge in Tulsa, Okla.

“They play really hard and fought back several times,” FSU head coach Dwayne Hultquist said. “We didn’t get as many breaks as we usually do and it was a disappointing loss.”

Aubone and Bowles lost 6-4, 7-6(3) to Eberly and Kronauge and for the second consecutive day were the pair struggled to break serve. The Buckeye’s took an early lead in the first set and were able to win easily. With the Seminoles down 6-5 in the second, they were able to force a tiebreaker before losing 7-3 in the tiebreak.

Aubone and Bowles end the season with a 28-15 record breaking the school record for doubles’ wins in a season.

“You never know how each year will turn out,” Hultquist said. “They showed that they can beat anyone in the country and they should be one of the top ranked teams next season.”
