CARY, N.C. – The Atlantic Coast Conference released the All-ACC team as announced today by Commissioner John D. Swofford. The Seminoles had seniors Jean-Yves Aubone and Vahid Mirzadeh both named to the team. This is the third honor for Aubone and first for Mirzadeh.
Jean-Yves Aubone (Miami, Fla.) has had a successful season, and career, for Florida State in the ACC. This season he is 7-5 on court one and ranked No. 25 in singles. In doubles play, he is 7-4 including an upset of the No. 19 doubles team in the nation with partner Clint Bowles (Tampa, Fla.). Last season he was named the ACC Player of the Year.
“It’s nice,” said Aubone. “But I’m at the point in my career where I want the team to do well. It will mean more if the team can end up winning ACCs.”
Vahid Mirzadeh (Wellington, Fla.) has made the most of his opportunity to play on court two this season with a 8-4 record in singles. He is 8-3 in doubles this season as well. This season he upset the No. 3 player in the nation, Sanam Singh of Virginia. Mirzadeh teamed up with Connor Smith (Tampa, Fla.) to upset the No. 27 tandem in the nation, Donato/Hardy of North Carolina.
“It’s really a great honor to have,” said Mirzadeh. “I didn’t expect it that to come but it’s my first time getting it. Hopefully we can do really well here at ACCs.”
Up next for the Seminoles is the NCAA tournament which is announced on May 4th. Check back on Seminoles.com or theNCAA.com.
