WINSTON-SALEM, NC (Seminoles.com) – Florida State’s Gonzalo Barroilhet finished second overall and as the No. 1 collegiate performer at the Deacon Combined Events on Wake Forest’s campus.
Barroilhet, who was the only FSU track & field athlete to compete in Winston-Salem, NC, finished the two-day event with 7,322 points. That toal trailed only Eric Broadbent from HPC Elite.
The competition marked Barroilhet’s first true return to action after recovering from an injury.
“Gonzalo did a great job considering he hasn’t competed in over a year,” FSU head coach Bob Braman said. “He’s on the bubble for National Qualifying. We’re hoping he gets another shot.”
Next up for both the men’s and women’s track & field teams is a trip to North Florida this Friday and Saturday in what is the final meet before Regionals.
