Barron Becomes FSU’s All-Time Winningest Tennis Coach

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – “Relieved.”


That’s how Florida State University Men’s Tennis Coach Dave Barron felt following the Seminoles’ 6-1 victory over Jacksonville University Friday afternoon.

With the win, Barron became FSU’s all-time winningest tennis coach, with a record of 130-75.


“It’s sweet to have the record and to be able to bring this program to another level, said Barron.


“It’s good for the players and the university.”


The Seminoles’ were led by Davidson Kozlowski, who continued his red-hot play, scoring a 6-1, 6-2 victory at No. 3 over Addams England. Kozlowski also teamed up with Ty Braswell to win at No. 1 doubles, 8-3.


Other winners for the Seminoles included: Yvo Niks, 6-2, 6-1 at No. 1 singles; Mike Ingham, 6-3, 7-6 (7-3) at No. 4; Chad Mooney, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5; and Jeff Scarella, 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 at No. 6.


Ingham and Scarella also teamed up to win at No. 3 doubles, 8-6.


FSU returns to action at home Sunday, January 31st, at 2:00 p.m. against Old Dominion University.
