Baseball America Places Noles 17th in Preseason Polls

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — The Florida State baseball team received another preseason top 25 ranking entering the 2016 season on Monday when Baseball America ranked the Seminoles 17th.  Florida State, which has laid claim to the ACC regular season title or finished with the best record in the league in 19 of the last 25 seasons, begins the 2016 season in search of an unprecedented 69th consecutive winning season.

“We are very proud that Baseball America recognized Florida State as the 17thranked team in the country,” said head coach Mike Martin. “We know that we have a long way to go to reach our goal, but I am anxious to get the season underway.”

Florida State is looking to repeat its 2015 ACC Tournament Championship and at the same time capture its ninth ACC Atlantic Division crown since the 2007 campaign when the team’s first official practice begins on Friday, Jan. 29.

The 2016 season begins on Friday, Feb. 19 when the Seminoles host Rhode Island for the first of a three-game set that is slated to begin at 4 p.m.

The Seminoles drew top 25 rankings in the Collegiate Baseball (16th), D1Baseball.com (20th) and Perfect Game (20th) polls as well.

Florida State is one of five ACC programs ranked among the Baseball America top 25 along with Louisville (2nd), Virginia (4th), Miami (6th) and NC State (19th).
