WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – No. 4 Florida State (13-0) takes a perfect record into Atlantic Coast Conference play, heading to Wake Forest (5-8) for a three-game series beginning Friday evening and concluding Saturday with a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m.
The Demon Deacons won twice against UMass-Lowell last weekend before falling to No. 24 Coastal Carolina on Wednesday night.

FSU won five games in five days, sweeping UNC Asheville last weekend and two games against Kansas on Monday and Tuesday. Cal Raleigh and Drew Mendoza have paced the FSU bats in that span, combining to hit 22-40 with five doubles, a triple and a home run. The two have 19 runs batted in and 10 runs scored in the past week.

Florida State leads the all-time series against Wake Forest, 88-27, including a 71-21 record under head coach Mike Martin.
PITCHING SHINES TO OPEN SEASON
Through 13 games, FSU ranks 11th nationally with a 2.08 ERA and leads the country with 13.5 strikeouts per game. FSU’s starting pitchers have thrown 69 innings this season and have a 1.57 earned run average.
The Seminoles have struck out at least 10 batters in 12 of 13 games this year and have struck out at least 15 in five games.
The Seminole bullpen, led by Jonah Scolaro’s 0.00 ERA in 10.1 innings and Cobi Johnson’s 22 strikeouts in 8.2 innings, has a 2.81 ERA in 48 innings with a 79-24 K-to-BB mark.
SANDS DEALING ON THE ROAD
In five road starts in 2017, junior Cole Sands was 3-0 and FSU was 5-0 in Sands’ starts.
Sands had a 4.85 ERA and allowed three or fewer runs in four of his five starts in true road games away from Dick Howser Stadium last year.
Sands had seven strikeouts in three road starts, at the time the most in his career. He threw six innings in wins at Notre Dame and NC State, also career highs at the time.
MARTIN CLOSING IN ON RECORD
Head coach Mike Martin is just 19 wins away from becoming college baseball’s winningest coach. Martin is 1,957-694-4 over 39 seasons at Florida State and trails only Augie Garrido (1,975) in NCAA history. Martin’s .738 career winning percentage is the best among active coaches.
