TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State baseball team held their
annual Garnet & Gold intrasquad game tonight at Dick Howser Stadium in
front of a crowd of 1,000-plus with the Gold team coming out on top 5-3
with a pair of runs in the ninth inning.

With the score tied 3-3 in the top of the ninth, centerfielder
Karl Jernigan singled home shortstop Brian Kraft for the game winning
run. Kraft doubled to lead off the inning. The Gold team added an
insurance run when second baseman Marshall McDougall’s single scored
Jernigan.

Lefthander Chris Smith, who pitched the ninth inning for both
teams, picked up the win and took the loss.

Pichi Balet was the only player to record more than one hit for
the Gold with two singles on the night. John-Ford Griffin, Chris Hart,
Chris Smith and Ryan West each had two hits for the Garnet.

The team will continue fall practice this week and hold their
Alumni game next Saturday (October 16) at 2:00 p.m.
