TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State (27-18) will host Pacific (15-26) for a four-game set on Mike Martin Field at Dick Howser Stadium this weekend, beginning Friday evening at 6:00 p.m. Saturday will feature a doubleheader beginning at 2:00 p.m., and Sunday’s finale will begin at 12:00 p.m. All four games will stream on ACC Network Extra, and Eric Luallen will provide audio on 106.1 FM in Tallahassee and nationwide on the FSU Gameday App.
Saturday evening’s game will be FSU’s annual Military Appreciation Day, and the first 1,000 fans will receive a commemorative t-shirt upon entering the stadium.
The Seminoles are coming off a 1-2 weekend against No. 14 Virginia last week. Florida State won the Friday night opener behind a stellar bullpen and three home runs. Dylan Busby and Jackson Lueck went back-to-back in the first inning, the first time FSU has done that this season, and Drew Mendoza’s two-run home run in the sixth inning broke a 4-4 tie.
Busby and Mendoza, along with Quincy Nieporte, homered in Sunday’s series finale, but an early 6-0 hole proved too much for FSU to rally from, dropping the game 7-5. The Seminoles did not play a midweek game due to finals.
Florida State has played just three games against teams currently in the West Coast Conference, all in the postseason. FSU beat BYU in the 1994 Tallahassee Regional, and split a pair of games with Santa Clara in the 1962 College World Series. Pacific is the first West Coast team to visit FSU since the Noles hosted Stanford early in the 2002 season.
It will also be FSU’s first four-game series since playing Grambling State four time in the 2009 season.
