SOUTH BEND, Ind. – No. 13 Florida State (15-7, 3-3 ACC) will play a three-game series at Notre Dame (7-12, 2-4) beginning Friday evening at 6:05 p.m. All three games will be streamed live on the ACC Network Extra, while Eric Luallen will provide play-by-play on 106.1 FM and nationwide on the FSU Gameday App.
The pitching staff for Florida State will remain the same, with Cole Sands (3-1, 3.91 ERA) throwing Friday and Tyler Holton (4-0, 2.20) and Drew Parrish (2-1, 5.16) closing out the weekend.
The Seminoles enter the game after a win Tuesday against Jacksonville, 10-9, after allowing seven runs in the top of the first inning. FSU pecked away at the lead, scoring more than two runs in an inning only once – in the ninth inning, when Cal Raleigh’s home run and J.C. Flowers walk-off two-run single gave FSU its first walk-off win of the season.
FSU is 11-7 all-time against Notre Dame, and each home team has swept the opponent since Notre Dame joined the league in 2014. The Noles swept the Irish in Tallahassee in 2014 and 2016, while Notre Dame repaid the favor in a 2015 sweep in Indiana.
The FSU offense is led by Rhett Aplin, hitting .338 with three home runs. Senior Quincy Nieporte leads the team with six home runs, including four grand slams, two more than any other player in the country.
With the return of Jackson Lueck to the FSU outfield after missing two weeks with shin splints, freshman Nick Derr moved from right field to second base. Nieporte is the designated hitter, and freshman Tyler Daughtry is slotted to start at third base.
Taylor Walls at shortstop and Flowers in center field are the only players that have started the same position each game.
