CHARLOTTE, N.C. (seminoles.com) – On the eve of its first preseason exhibition game of the year against Southeastern University, the Florida State men’s basketball team was predicted to finish eighth in the league standings and sophomore guard Dwayne Bacon was a preseason All-ACC Second-Team selection according to a vote of media at the league’s 55th Annual Operation Basketball media outing at the Omni Charlotte Hotel.
Duke enters the 2016-17 season as the ACC favorite. Defending ACC champion North Carolina (six first-place votes) finished second in the voting, followed by Virginia, Louisville and Syracuse. The ACC preseason voters selected NC State sixth, followed by Notre Dame, Florida State and Miami. Virginia Tech was picked 10th, while Clemson, Pitt, Wake Forest, Georgia Tech and Boston College rounded out the voting.
Bacon, who became the first freshman in Florida State history to lead the Seminoles in scoring and rebounding in 2016, was one of 10 players in the nation’s most complete conference to earn preseason All-ACC Honors. In addition, Jonathan Isaac was one of seven players who earned votes as the preseason ACC Rookie of the Year.
