TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – For the first time in 2016, the Florida State Beach Volleyball team will get a chance to showcase their skills in front of the hometown crowd as the Seminoles host the FSU Beach Invitational, April 15 & 16, at the Seminole Beach Volleyball courts. Florida State welcomes UAB, College of Charleston, Georgia State, North Florida and Tulane to Tallahassee for the two-day tournament.
Each school will play two matches on Friday and Saturday as the tournament marks the end of the regular season. The Seminoles will open the tournament against UAB at 2:00 p.m. on Friday before closing out the day against No. 9 Georgia State at 6:30 p.m. On Saturday, FSU will face No. 17 Tulane at 2:30 p.m. and then close out the tournament against the College of Charleston at 6:30 p.m.
FSU owns a combined 15-1 mark all-time against the Blazers, Cougars, Panthers and Green Wave. The lone loss came last year against Georgia State as the Seminoles dropped a 3-2 contest in Columbia, S.C. Florida State is 5-0 against both UAB and Tulane and 3-0 all-time against the College of Charleston.
The Seminoles will host their annual ‘Paint It Pink’ match against Georgia State on Friday. Pink shirts will be available at the courts for fans to purchase for a $10 donation to the Sharon Ewing Walker Breast Health Center of Tallahassee Memorial Healthcare.
On Saturday, Florida State will recognize its seven seniors prior to its match against the College of Charleston.
