TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Florida State Beach Volleyball program will kick start the 2016 season with the Garnet & Gold intra-squad scrimmage on Friday, February 26 at 5:00 p.m. on the Seminole Beach Volleyball Courts.
The Seminoles will then host an alumni game on Saturday featuring past players squaring off against each other. Some of the alumni returning this weekend include Aurora Davis (’14), Katie Mosher (’15), Taylor Nyquist (’15), Melanie Pavels (’15) and Lacey Blackman (’12). The alumni match is scheduled to start at 4:30 p.m. Admission to all beach volleyball matches are free of charge.
After the alumni match on Saturday, the Florida State Beach Volleyball program will host a banquet at Madison Social beginning at 7:30 p.m. The cost to attend the banquet is $10 per person.
“The girls have worked so hard during the off season and I’m excited to see where all that hard work takes them,” Florida State head coach Brooke Niles said. “We haven’t played each other as much the last couple of weeks of practice just so we can save something for the Garnet & Gold match. Overall, they are excited, I’m excited and I think Friday’s exhibition will be very competitive.”
The Seminoles will officially begin their season March 4 with a pair of dual matches against South Carolina and Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz.
