Florida State University’s men’s swimming and diving team will have two athletes competing this week at the 2002 NCAA Men’s Swimming and Diving Championship in Athens, Ga. Junior Justin Betts will swim in the 100 and 200-yard breaststrokes and the 200-yard individual medley. Louie Gagnet, who earned ACC’s Most Valuable Diver award as a freshman this season, will compete on the one and three-meter boards and the platform.
Betts qualified for the NCAA’s by swimming an A-cut time of 54.24 in the 100-breast, which was good enough for second place at the ACC championship. The time also ranks as the third fastest in school history and the 11th fastest in the nation this year. Betts also swam B-cut times of 2:00.11 in the 200-breast and 1:48.83 in the 200-IM.
