CHAPEL HILL, NC — The Florida State women’s tennis team concluded their regular season with a 5-4 victory over the University of North Carolina on Friday. The match gives the Lady Seminoles a 11-10 record on the season and a 2-6 record in the ACC. It also marks the fifth ACC match in which the final match score was 5-4 this season for FSU.
The Lady Seminoles opened the match by splitting singles with the Tarheels. Florida State was led by No. 2 Ali Weber, No. 3 Kia Asberg and No. 6 Kylie Thompson. Weber defeated Cena Hackler in three sets 6-4, 2-6, 6-4. With the win Weber finishes the season with a team best 19-13 record.
Florida State clinched in the match by winning two of three close doubles matches. The No. 2 team of Thompson and Nanette Duxin defeated Sararh Hawking and Courtney Zalinski 8-6, No. 3 tandem of Weber and Helena Karlsson beat Jeni Burnette and Jessica Zaganczyk 9-7.
The Lady Seminoles now begin preparation for the ACC tournament on April 23-25 in Atlanta, GA.
