TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Five games to go and the pressure is on for the 15th-ranked Florida State volleyball team.
As the regular season draws closer to its end on Nov. 25, the Seminoles (23-2, 14-1 Atlantic Coast Conference) have a lot at stake this weekend as they play at Clemson on Friday and Georgia Tech on Saturday.
Currently two games ahead of Duke and Georgia Tech in the race to the conference crown, FSU is looking to continue its school-record 11-match winning streak in ACC play against the Tigers and Yellow Jackets — two teams that gave them all they could handle earlier this season.
Georgia Tech is the lone ACC school that has had any success against the ‘Noles this year as the Yellow Jackets earned a 3-2 victory over FSU in Tallahassee on Oct. 2. Two days later, Clemson proved to be no pushover in a 3-2 Seminoles win.
FSU enters Friday’s match at Clemson with a program-best No. 15 ranking in the nation. The Seminoles earned that lofty ranking in this week’s AVCA Division I Coaches Poll after wins over Duke and Wake Forest last weekend.
Against the Yellow Jackets, FSU will play a formidable Georgia Tech team that enters the weekend tied with the Blue Devils for second place in the league.
Clemson enters the weekend slate of games tied with N.C. State for third place in the conference.
Friday’s match is at 7 p.m. and Saturday’s showdown begins at 4 p.m.
