Adversity is a great word to describe our halftime performance last Saturday. While Coach Alameda’s microphone didn’t work, the announcer announced in the middle of our dance and the audience thought we were finished long before our number was over we pushed through and kept dancing. In a way, while our chances of getting onto The Ellen DeGeneres Show are a little low (there’s still hope), that experience was a great learning lesson for us. We are never absolutely positive about what will come of our season but we can be positive about how we have prepared.
We have prepared long and hard just like we do with softball and when the time came to perform there were some bumps just like there will be in the game that we love. We can’t control the umpires making unfavorable calls or the crowd but we can keep playing and sticking with our fundamentals. On Saturday we controlled the controllables and continued to dance until the end. Quite frankly I thought we did pretty dang good!
With the season beginning on Friday, we as a team know how much we have prepared for the season and are excited about starting. For some of us, like myself, this is our last shot and I have no doubt that we are ready. Ultimately the road to victory may perhaps be a bumpy one but we will take every bump with the end goal in sight. Our first game is on Friday February 8 at 6 p.m. against FAMU.
