TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Florida State men’s tennis player Clint Bowles (Tampa, Fla.) defeated John Huang of Yale 6-3, 6-2 on the first day of the ITA National Indoor Championships. This year’s event is hosted by Yale University and continues through November 8 at the Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center in New Haven, Conn.
“I thought Clint did a great job of kind of wading through the first couple games and then kind of got on a roll to win the first set 6-2,” said head coach Dwayne Hultquist. “I was really happy how he served in the second set and closed it out 6-3. Clint played a very solid match and I thought his composure was very strong. He handled himself really good playing on the opposing team’s home court. His return percentage and serve percentage were very good today.”
The junior will face the two seed Oleksandr Nedovyesov of Oklahoma State. Play for the round of 16 begins at noon then is followed by the quarterfinals at 6p.m.
