Braman Honored By USTCA For Indoor Track Success

Tallahassee, Fla. – Second-year Florida State head track and field coach Bob Braman was named the United States Track Coaches Association (USTCA) South Region Indoor Coach of the Year for his coaching during the 2005 season, announced by the governing body of coaches for the sport on Wednesday, March 9, 2005. Braman is one of three Atlantic Coast Conference Coaches to earn the honor and adds it to his 2005 ACC Indoor Track and Field Coach of the Year Award.

Braman led this season’s squad to its third consecutive ACC Indoor Track and Field Championship behind six individual event titles and both relays edging Clemson by 2.5 points. Five Tribe members set school records this season and all are among an elite group of student-athletes headed to nationals this weekend with hopes of finishing amongst the best programs in the nation. Included in this group are ACC Performer of the Year Tom Lancashire and league Rookie of the Year Walter Dix as well as the 2003 NCAA National Pole Vault Champion Lacy Janson.

Previous coaching honors include the 2003 ACC Cross Country Coach of the Year and 2004 NCAA South Region Cross Country Coach of Year award.
