TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (seminoles.com) – Sophomore third baseman Tiffani Brown has been named Atlantic Coast Conference Player of the Week, while senior pitcher Sarah Hamilton earned ACC Pitcher of the Week, announced today by the conference.
Brown’s performance at the plate and on the base paths helped FSU go 5-1 last week, which included a victory against 24th-ranked Kentucky. The Tallahassee native batted .450 (9-for-20) in that span with two triples, one double, three RBIs, 11 runs scored and just one strikeout. She also was a perfect 6-for-6 in stolen base attempts, and is now 8-for-8 in 11 games played this season.
The accolade marks Brown’s first-ever conference player of the week honor. She currently leads the everyday FSU starters with a .368 batting average (14-for-38).
Hamilton records her fourth career conference pitcher of the week award. The right-hander, also a Tallahassee native, finished 2-1 last week with a 1.43 ERA and 23 strikeouts in 14.2 innings pitched. She threw a complete-game shutout against the nationally-ranked Wildcats, and allowed just three runs in four appearances.
Hamilton also picked up her seventh career save in a win over Florida A&M, tying FSU great Casey Hunter for second place on the school’s career list. Hamilton is also fifth in school history with 769 career strikeouts.
