ATHENS, Ga. –
Sophomore Jaclyn Burch and junior Caroline Larsson are the leading golfers for Florida State after the second round of the Liz Murphey Collegiate Classic at the University of Georgia Golf Course. Burch led the Seminoles with a 78 in the second round and Florida State is in a tie for 15th place in the team standings heading into Sunday’s third and final round.

Georgia, the defending champions and tournament host, remained atop the field, shooting a combined 294, the lowest of the second round scores. The Bulldogs’ 36-hole score of 592 keeps them seven strokes ahead of second place Tulane. Louisiana State (600), Auburn (601), Tennessee (607) and Wake Forest (607) round out the top five. Tulane’s Lindsay Hulwick leads the pack after rounds of 73 and 72. She is followed closely behind by Auburn’s Diana Ramage, LSU’s Rebecca Kuhn, Arkansas’ Stacy Lewis and Tennessee’s Violeta Retamoza, all of whom share second place with a two day total of 146.

Burch (Wildwood, Mo.) led the Seminoles with a 78 on the second round and is in a tie for 31st place in the individual standings. She is the only Florida State player with two rounds in the 70’s over the first two days of the three day event. Larsson (Danderyd, Sweden) , who carded a team leading 73 in the first round, is also in a tie for 31st place with a 154 total.
