HIRING A&P OR USPS EMPLOYEES



  • The process to hire a new employee will be coordinated by the supervisor making the hire and department’s personnel representative (located in the Business Office).
  • The first step in hiring a new employee will be to create a job opening with the University’s Human Resources Department. The supervisor making the hire should complete a Request to Create Job Opening Form. The personnel rep will use this form to enter the job opening in OMNI. This will then create a job posting on the University’s website. Any additional advertising for the job (newspaper, internet) should be coordinated by the supervisor making the request.
  • Applicants will apply online for the job opening. The supervisor making the hire will be able to view job applicants in OMNI.
  • When the supervisor has selected a pool of applicants to interview, the list of candidates should be sent to the personnel rep. This list has to be certified by Human Resources prior to interviews taking place.
  • No offer may be made to a candidate until after the job advertisement has closed.
  • When a hiring decision has been made, complete the Request to Appoint A&P or USPS Employee Form, obtain necessary approvals, and forward to the Personnel Rep.



HIRING OPS EMPLOYEES



  • The process to hire a new OPS employee will be coordinated by the supervisor making the hire and department’s personnel representative (located in the Business Office).
  • The first step in hiring a new OPS employee will be to complete a Request to Hire OPS Employee Form. The personnel rep will use this form to enter the job information in OMNI.
  • OPS employee will apply online to a generic OPS job opening.
  • Supervisors should monitor OPS appointments throughout the year to make sure the employee is not exceeding the hours they are scheduled to work. In addition, if the OPS employee is to be re-appointed, the supervisor should begin this process at least 1 month prior to the end of the original appointment. Failure to do so may cause a lapse in the employee’s appointment, and delays in the employee getting paid.



APPLYING ONLINE TO A&P OR USPS POSITIONS



  • Candidates for any job opening must apply online for the position. Following are the steps for this process:

    • Go to www.hr.fsu.edu
    • Click on Employment Opportunities
    • Click Search and Apply for a Job
    • Under External Applicant, click I Am Ready to Search and Apply
    • Click on Register and enter a user id and password for the system
    • Once you have done that, it will take you back to the search page
    • If you are not ready to apply but would like to enter your information, then scroll down and click on Create/Update Application and simply complete your application and save it into the system for future use
    • Or if you are ready to apply for a position, go to the Search box to type in the Keywords search box any words that reflect the type of job you are interested in
    • Once you find one you wish to apply for click Apply Now
    • Enter in all your application information and at the end, click Submit and OK and this will submit your application
    • Please remember that once your application is submitted, it is saved in the system and you can access and reapply for any position at any time by simply using your user id and password that you selected




APPLYING ONLINE TO OPS POSITIONS



  • Candidates for any job opening must apply online for the position. Following are the steps for this process:

    • Go to www.hr.fsu.edu
    • Click on Employment Opportunities
    • Click Search and Apply for a Job
    • Under External Applicant, click I Am Ready to Search and Apply
    • Type in “OPS” in the Keywords search box
    • Scroll down to find OPS Express Spring 2007, job opening ID # 22151
    • Click Apply Now
    • Answer all the questions as prompted by the program
    • At the end, click Submit and OK and this will submit your application into the FSU OPS Express Pool




NEW EMPLOYEE CHECKLIST AND FORMS





REVISE OPS APPOINTMENTS



  • Changes for an OPS employee’s appointment can be made by completing the Request to Change Current Status Form.
  • This form is used to change hours, pay rate, and funding information.



TIMESHEETS



  • Timesheets must be completed every two weeks for all employees.
  • Timesheets will be prepared by the department’s personnel rep and sent to your office.
  • Timesheets must be filled out completely and returned by noon on the Wednesday of the week prior to payday.
  • Time is entered into OMNI by the department’s personnel rep.
  • If a timesheet was not received, please contact the department’s personnel rep.



UPDATE PERSONAL INFORMATION IN OMNI



  • Follow these steps to view and update your personal information in OMNI:

    • Log into OMNI
    • Select OMNI Human Resources
    • Select Self Service from the OMNI menu list
    • Select Personal Information
    • From here you can view and update your address, phone number, emergency contact, and email information
