LOS ANGELES – Greetings from sunny California. This is the first of a series of blog posts that I have creatively titled “California Dreamin’” in homage to this song by the Mamas and the Papas.
The idea behind this blog is to give you a comprehensive look at all the goings on here in southern California. Think of it as a series of postcards from the Rose Bowl week experience.
Florida State arrived here in L.A. yesterday on what had to be the biggest airplane I’ve ever seen in my life. The team is at a nearby hotel, but all of the pregame press conferences and media availabilities will take place at the L.A. Hotel, which is where the very sizable media contingent is staked out for the week.
The Seminoles.com crew got here last night found it already decked out with Rose Bowl-themed coat of paint.
The front desk of the L.A. Hotel lobby knows what’s coming.
This is one of several large “Welcome Media” signs.
Etched glass with FSU, Oregon and Rose Bowl logos is a classy touch.
Behind these doors is where all of the game-week press conferences will take place. That’s a huge photo of Rashad Greene on the left. Marcus Mariota is on the right.
There will likely be a few hundred photos taken in front of this backdrop.
We’re about to head over to Disneyland, where FSU coach Jimbo Fisher and a handful of players will attend a welcome press conference along with their counterparts from Oregon.
Check back for complete coverage from that event and everything else throughout the week.
