Tallahassee – The Florida State men’s and women’s track and field teams headed to Gainesville, FL to compete at the Florida Relays from March 24-27, 2004.
Brother and sister tandem, seniors Tamara and Sean Campbell (Orlando, FL/Evans) both qualified for the NCAA East Regionals in the 400m event recording times of 53.99 and 46.57, respectively. Tamara posted a third place finish while Sean took fourth overall. One of five sets of siblings on the track and field team, both lead their respective events in the Atlantic Coast Conference’s Top Performers list.
Sophomore LaKendra McColumn (Lithonia, GA/Southwest DeKalb) also posted a qualifying mark for the second time this season, running a season-best time of 59.65.
The 1600m sprint medley group of Campbell, freshman Cedric Nabe (Geneva, Switzerland/Lycee St. Joesph), senior Joe Paiva (Levittown, PA/Truman) and junior Rhoan Sterling (Ontario, Canada/Toledo) placed second in a time of 3:22.90.
Junior Lacy Janson (Sarasota, FL/Cardinal Mooney) placed third in the pole vault with a 12’9.5 mark, tying her season-high.
