The Girl Scouts of the Big Bend held their Annual Cookie Eating Contest on Feb 7, 2004 and two FSU Student-Athletes participated in the event. FSU Volleyball’s Cassie McLaughlin and Sarah Griffin participated along side of Rob Nucatola from Channel 6, Leon County Sheriff Larry Campbell, Karson from Karson & Kennedy on Hot 104.9, and Ali from FAMU Athletic Department.

The event is a pep rally for the girls to help them get excited about selling Girl Scout cookies. It begins with the girls performing skits, cheers, and different activities in order to earn badges. The Celebrity Cookie Munch-Off concludes the event.

All of the proceeds – every penny – from a local Girl Scout council’s cookie activities remains in the area where the cookies are sold. This revenue is used to benefit girls, some of it directly by remaining in the Girl Scout troop/group treasury and some of it indirectly by subsidizing the cost of providing the Girl Scout program in the local area.
