Cech, White Named To The Atlantic Coast Conference 50th Anniversary Women’s Swimming & Diving Team

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. –
Atlantic Coast Conference commissioner John Swofford announced the 50th Anniversary Women’s Swimming and Diving Team on Wednesday. Lady Seminole greats Christy Cech and Samantha White were named to the 52-member team, which was voted on by the eight league institutions that sponsor the sport.


Cech (2000-02) was a three-year letterwinner at FSU following a transfer from the University of Miami. Her career was highlighted with two All-America honors in the 50-yard freestyle (2001 and 2002). In addition, Cech won ACC titles in the 100-free in 2000 and 2002. Cech owns school records in the 50-free (22.54) and 100-free (49.36), as well as being a member of the school record holding 200-, 400- and 800-free relays.


White (1996-1999) was a two-time All-American in the 100-yard breaststroke for the Lady Seminoles in 1996 and 1997. In 1997, White added an ACC title in the 100-breast to her collection of accolades. White owns the school record in the 100-breast (1:02.32) and was a member of the school record holding 400-medley relay.
