Coach Cori Close Named a Finalist for the ‘Rising Star’ of the College Basketball Coaching Profession Award

TALLAHASSSEE, Fla. – Florida State associate women’s basketball coach Cori Close has been named one of 10 finalists for BasketballScoop.com’s “Rising Star” of the College Basketball Coaching Profession Award.

After an early voting period in which anyone could vote for the 20 semi-finalists, Coach Close accrued enough total votes to move on to the final 10. Now, a panel of coaches will trim the finalists in half and chose the five winners.

The recipients of the award will be announced on May 4.

Close, who just concluded her fifth season working with head coach Sue Semrau, helped lead a Seminole squad that earned a share of the regular-season Atlantic Coast Conference championship with Maryland and reached the NCAA Tournament for a school-record fifth-straight season.
