Coach Sue Will Tent For Tickets

Feb. 21, 2006

An area outside of the Donald L. Tucker Center ticket window will soon become a home away from home for Florida State women’s basketball head coach Sue Semrau. Coach Sue will live in a tent outside of the Tucker Center beginning Thursday, February 23rd following the Wake Forest home game until 3,000 tickets are sold for the women’s final home game of the season vs. 20th-ranked Boston College on Sunday, February 26th at 1 p.m. The game is sponsored by Alltel. If the goal is reached, it will break the single-game home attendance record.

“The thing I love most about Florida State is the people who support us,” Semrau said. “It’s unbelievable to be at an FSU football game with 80,000 awesome fans. I want my players, who have done so much to elevate our women’s basketball program, to experience that special atmosphere…and I’ll camp out to rally those same fans to join us on Sunday at 1 p.m.!”

Sunday’s game will be special for a number of reasons. Florida State will pay tribute to its seniors prior to the game. The class of 2006 is perhaps, the most successful unit in the Semrau era. The first class to lead FSU to seven or more ACC victories in four consecutive seasons, this group helped Florida State to three top four finishes in the ACC and have the program poised to not only make its record fourth-straight postseason appearance, but second straight trip to the NCAA Tournament. In their time together, FSU has averaged more than 18 wins per season. Sunday’s game will also be the first women’s basketball meeting between Florida State and Boston College and both squads are fighting for the coveted fourth-place spot in the ACC which entitles a first-round bye at the ACC Tournament. The Eagles will also be the highest-ranked team to visit the Tucker Center for women’s basketball this season.

Fans can purchase tickets in person at the tent, online at www.seminoles.com or by calling 64-GOFSU or *FSU on your Alltel wireless. Fans are also welcome to visit Coach Sue in person while she “Tents for Tickets.” Only practice will take Coach Sue away from the tent. Prizes will be given away to those fans who visit, including “Play Like A Girl” T-shirts, posters and much more!

“I may regret sleeping in a tent come Sunday, but it’s all being done in good spirits and I’m thrilled to do anything to help us fill the Tucker Center for this very special game,” Semrau said.
