Coleman Earns ACC Women’s Player Of Week Award

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State senior Latavia Coleman opened
the 1999-2000 women’s basketball season by leading the Seminoles to a
77-70 win over Tulsa and her performance earned her the first Atlantic
Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week award of the

Coleman, who hails from Macon, Ga., scored a game-high 32 points
and grabbed a team-high nine rebounds. It was the third time in
Coleman’s career that she has scored over 30 points in a game. Coleman
was 12-of-15 from the field (80 percent) and added a blocked shot and
steal against the Golden Hurricanes.

Coleman averaged 20.8 points per game last year before suffering
a torn ACL in practice on December 26th, ending her 1998-99 season. At
the time, Coleman was second on the team in rebounding (7.0) and had
recently set the FSU mark for points in a game with 38 against No. 8
North Carolina.

Coleman and the Seminoles will face the South Florida Bulls
tonight in the Sun Dome. Game time is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on the
Sunshine Network.
