AUBURN, Ala. — With FSU’s top 12 runners in Palo Alto, Calif., for the Stanford Invitational Saturday, head coach Scott Irving sent the rest of his team to the Region IX Preview in Auburn, Ala., to gain some experience for his young squad. In Auburn, the women’s team was led by sophomore Kim Winn to a 22nd-place finish. The men’s team was led by freshman Nick Stuart to a 23rd-place finish.
In the 30-team, 243-runner field, FSU entered 10 women. Winn led the group, finishing 83rd, with a 5K time of 18:42. Winn was followed by Misty Harper (116th – 19:16), Brandi Rook (154th – 20:04), Erin McGee (175th – 20:35), Erica Lazarus (181st – 20:42), Sandra Murphy (194th – 21:18), Sara Bergeron (199th – 21:27), Michelle Palmer (203rd – 21:42), Mizar Aleman (210th – 22:24) and Melissa Lyons (225th – 23:51).
On the men’s side, there were 33 teams and 269 runners. Following Nick Stuart’s 8K time of 27:02 and 119th-place finish, were Dave Stuart (126th – 27:08), Michael Maier (134th – 27:14), Brady Thomas (146th – 27:27), Ryan Hicks (149th – 27:32), Nate Adams (158th – 27:43), Nathan Timm (187th – 28:22) and Eric Ritchson (203rd – 28:44).
Following Saturday’s Stanford Invitational, the next meet for FSU will be on October 15th at the University of South Florida.
