TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – Junior shortstop Taylor Walls and sophomore catcher Cal Raleigh were named preseason All-Americans by D1Baseball.com this week, the publication announced. It is the fifth preseason All-American honor for Walls and the third for Raleigh.
Walls is the second team shortstop, while Raleigh is the second team catcher.
Walls finished his All-American 2016 season with a .355 average and ranked second in the nation with 72 runs scored. On the basepath, Walls had 14 stolen bases and an incredible 59 walks to just 45 strikeouts.
Raleigh, a 2016 Freshman All-American, hit .301 with 10 home runs and 50 RBI in starting 61 games behind the plate.
Walls was previously named a first team selection by Collegiate Baseball and the NCBWA and a third team choice of Perfect Game and Baseball America. Raleigh was a third team pick of Perfect Game and the NCBWA.
The fifth-ranked Seminoles open the 2017 season Friday, February 17, at 4:00 p.m. against VCU. Single-game tickets go on sale Monday, February 13, at Seminoles.com.
